THE LAND

Our land

Vine cultivation has always been a great resource in the Veneto region, but it has become more and more refined, defined and rooted over the centuries. Before 1800, the specialized vineyard didn’t exist and the main system of married vine in use was called “alberata”, with several vines climbing single trees. In the late XIX century, there was in increase in vine cultivation, due to a modernization of its systems, that spread viticulture beyond the boundaries of the Piave River area.

Throughout the 20th century to the present day, the vine has become a native plant in our lands, making wine production recognizable as a local activity. The Enological School based in Conegliano is thus a national and international point of reference: it was founded by decree of the Italian king Vittorio Emanuele II, with special care to viticulture and oenology. The school’s headquarter has always been Conegliano, a town which is known for its wine-making tradition and the production of Prosecco wine and whose hills became part of the heritage of UNESCO (the world’s largest organization for the protection of cultural heritage) in 2019, making the world appreciate the values and features of a land that has remained authentic through the ages.
